"As a futurist, I realize that the issues involved in building human communities that can tackle the size and scale of problems facing us is bigger than they ever were before. In the past you could work in your own corner of the world and be effective and not be worried about how others were doing elsewhere. Now, and in the future, that isn't so. The human community needs new designers, new builders, new organizers and global community problem-solvers if we are to negotiate the future successfully. The world faces some huge problems. Two of those are designing a humane global society at the same time as building a sustainable world. And within these large problems are thousands of smaller problems that demand new concepts and fresh thinking. For example, rebuilding future cities as sustainable communities; bringing people together to harmonize cultures; creating new lifestyles and new experiences that fit a globalized world. So it is essential to have a place where these ideas can be expressed, new knowledge created, and new collaborations put together to shape a better future for humanity. Hunome is an exciting venture that promises great new opportunities to expand the range and visibility of our work within an emerging global design community."
